Remote Desktop Server

CloudAPPS:  

CloudApps provides access to many software applications that run through Citrix including: 

  • Adobe Creative Cloud
  • ArcGIS
  • Blender
  • Box
  • EndNote
  • Mathematica
  • MATLAB (R2020b & R2021a)
  • Microsoft Office
  • Microsoft Visual Studio
  • And many other software applications

Remote Desktop:  In order to remotely connect to Physics servers, and lab computers, you will need to connect to the campus network via VPN.BYU.EDU, then use either Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection or Remina to remotely access the resource. 

Please Note:

  • When logging in with ones netID it should be preceded by specifying the domain the user is loggin into. For example: byu\username. This should be done any time one is entering his or her netID.

If you have any trouble connecting through remote desktop please put in a Service Request or contact the Physics & Astronomy IT Support Office.

The Microsoft Remote Desktop client available on Windows, Linux, and Macintosh computers, you can work on specialized servers as you do any other computer. 

Notes:

  • Do not store important files on the Remote Desktop session. Like lab computers, files stored on the servers may be deleted at any time. Always store important files on your mapped network drives, or on BOX.
  • Use BOX or a research share. If you have special circumstances which preclude these options, come talk to us.

Remote Astronomy Lab servers: Astrolab01 and Astrolab02 are available for Astronomy students.
