Astrofest Brings the Stars to BYU

BYU’s Eyring Science Center transforms into a space exploration center featuring launching rockets, flames, and explosions at Astrofest.

Astrofest will be held on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in and around the Eyring Science Center on BYU’s campus. Families and guests of all ages from the community are invited to participate in the free activities.

An annual event for the whole family, Astrofest welcomes the community to BYU’s campus for learning activities and adventures in astronomy. Guests will have the opportunity to earn an astronomy patch as they complete activities and experiments.

Acoustics students will also host their exciting Sounds to Astound demonstrations, which examine the physics of sound. Guests at these shows will be treated to dancing flames and exploding balloons.

In addition, visitors can build rockets and launch them into the sky or visit the Royden G. Derrick Planetarium for stargazing shows.

Astrofest is meant to provide engaging learning activities for families in the community and to introduce children to the world of physics and astronomy.
